Dr Jamilla Newman

General Paediatrician

Dr. Jamilla Newman is a consultant General Paediatrician dedicated to providing compassionate, family-centred care for children and their families. She enjoys all aspects of neonatal, developmental and paediatric care and has extensive experience across various paediatric settings. Jamilla is known for her sensitive and supportive approach, always prioritizing open communication to ensure families feel heard and understood. Her background in both general paediatrics and medical education allows her to provide expert care while making complex medical information accessible to parents and caregivers. Jamilla’s previous role as a speech pathologist further enriches her holistic approach to child and adolescent health.

Jamilla is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (General Paediatrics) and is a member of the Australasian Society for Developmental Paediatrics. She completed her paediatric training in various hospitals throughout Queensland including the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Jamilla also holds the academic title of associate lecturer with the University of Queensland.

As a mother of three children herself, Jamilla understands the importance of approaching each child’s unique needs with empathy and respect and strives to empower families, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to actively participate in their child’s care. Whether addressing acute medical concerns or providing ongoing care, Jamilla finds it a privilege to play a role in supporting your child’s health and wellbeing
